Church of the Red RocksThe Church of the Red Rocks in Sedona, Arizona has established a “Dutch Lunch” where church members have lunch with visitors after Sunday morning worship services. Members volunteer for this program by signing up with the church’s Growth and Outreach Commission.

Also, beginning in October, Associate Pastor Rev. Donna Cavedon will be leading parishioners on monthly hikes that will include time to meditate. The hikes will go to Red Rocks State Park as well as to other sites around Sedona. The Rev. Cavedon said “some hikes may prove to be really easy, while others may provide more of a challenge.”

Beginning September 18, worship services of the First Congregational U.C.C. in Phoenix, Arizona will be broadcast on KPHX-AM each Sunday at 4:00 PM with a one week delay. Also at First Church, Senior Pastor Rev. Steven Wayles will retire on June 20, 2012 after 30-plus years of ministry with 19 years at First Church.

First Congregational UCC, Flagstaff

At the First Congregational U.C.C. in Flagstaff, Arizona the worship service on September 18 will “look and sound a lot like it did in 1912” as part of the Arizona Centennial Celebration in Prescott. Worshipers are encouraged to attend dressed as worshipers were 100 years ago.


First Congregational UCC, AlbuquerqueThe First Congregational Church UCC in Albuquerque, New Mexico is publishing a cookbook. Members are invited to deposit their favorite recipes in the church’s “Loaves & Fishes & Fabulous Dishes Recipe Box.”

The Adult Forum of The Good Shepherd UCC in Sahuarita, Arizona recently heard Mona Darwich speak on “How a single Muslim woman living in Sahuarita finds a religious community.”

Kristen Barner
Shepherd of the Hills UCC in Phoenix, Arizona is holding a musical program on October 1. Called “Life in Wonderful”, the proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer fund. If the program raises $3,000, Associate Pastor Rev. Kristen Renee Barner will dye her hair pink for the month of October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
