 Pastor Jane Creek of First Congregational UCC in Prescott, Arizona is holding a series of classes in October on Islam based on articles from Sojourner Magazine.  Sue Roth, Office Manager of Shepherd of the Hills UCC in Phoenix, Arizona, was feted at a luncheon attended by nearly 100 church members in celebration of her 25th anniversary with Shepherd. Sue started as a part-time bookkeeper with the Shepherd Preschool in 1986.  Faith United Community Church in Dewey, Arizona is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month. First Congregational UCC in Phoenix, Arizona is holding a “Friend Raising Sunday” on November 6 during which members are invited to invite a friend to the worship service.  Shadow Rock UCC in Phoenix, Arizona has completed a survey of its members to learn their degree of satisfaction with various church programs, and to identify members’ perceived strengths and weaknesses of Shadow Rock. The survey questionnaire was distributed through the church newsletter. Congregational Church of the Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona has called the Rev. Theresa Stirling to serve as pastor. Rev. Stirling is moving from New Hampshire and will start November 1.  Noel Anderson, Assistant to the Pastor at Good Shepherd UCC in Sahuarita, Arizona has accepted a position as Grassroots Coordinator for Immigrants’ Rights with the Church World Service in Washington, D.C.  Rincon Congregational Church in Tuscon, Arizona is considering installing solar panels on its campus. The church is soliciting input from members of the congregation by means of a written questionnaire.  The Rev. Wally Kuroiwa has been called as interim pastor at Church of the Painted Hills in Tucson, Arizona. He was previously the interim pastor at Valley Community Church in Silver City, New Mexico. Kuroiwa retired from the UCC national staff on December 31, 2009. He was Minister and Team Leader of the Economic and Racial Justice Ministries.  Church of the Beatitudes in Phoenix, Arizona has introduced “Beatitudes Bistro” which is open every Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:00 PM before the church’s regular Wednesday evening programs. The Bistro won’t include usual “church food” but will have “grab-and-go” food made with fresh ingredients. Price is $5 and $3 for kids.  Judy Green-Davis will have her Ecclesiastical Council on October 29 at Church of the Beatitudes in Phoenix, Arizona. |
