Youth and Outdoor Ministry

The Southwest Conference is committed to the development of programs for children and youth to get away, live together, and explore God‘s presence in their lives. Our Youth and Outdoor Ministry provides many opportunities for youth to be involved including camps during the summer, retreats during the school year and leadership opportunities. FAQs

2012 Southwest Conference UCC Summer Camps
Incoming 2nd graders - 2012 graduates are invited to camp!
2012 Camp BrochureWe are doing a new thing!
We envision nurturing this excitement around leadership, peer mentoring and faith. Further, we hope to create an experience where youth will take off their masks as they enter into nature and worship.

In other words, we hope to create a safe and sacred space where youth are free to be themselves as they encounter God and one another, nurturing their wildest imagination.

You will notice some changes this year. Unfortunately, we need to ask that program staff and counselors pay some fees to help cover the costs for food and lodging. WE DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO MISS CAMP DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS!

The cost for program staff and counselors is $150. Scholarship funds can be requested. AGAIN: WE DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO MISS CAMP DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS! Please call the office or Michele Mellott with special concerns. We will do all we can on a case by case basis.

National Youth Event

NYE

NATIONAL YOUTH EVENT
JULY 10 - 13, 2012
Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana

The National Youth Event, held every four years, provides an opportunity for over 3000 youth (ages 13 to 18) to gather for worship, workshops, faith, fun and fellowship. It is planned by the collaborative efforts of national staff and an NYE Planning Committee comprised of a diverse group of UCC youth and young adults.

Online registration deadline is May 21. $100 will hold your spot!
We are taking a group via vans from Phoenix. This keeps the cost of the trip down to $650! Get a friend who has never been to a SWC event to sign up and get $50 off your registration fee.

You may attend with the Southwest Conference Group ROADTRIP for a total cost, travel included of only $650.
Sow the Seed funds are available if you need financial help. You will need to get your church to pitch in 1/3 of the cost…. So now is the time to FUND RAISE!

The event starts on July 10 and ends on July 13.
ROADTRIP will leave on July 9 very, very early in the morning and return very, very late July 14!

CHURCHES and youth leaders that are arranging their own way please note:
Group leaders are required to keep a hard copy of all forms for all group attendees (youth and adults) while participating in NYE 2012. The Group leader accepts responsibility for insuring that all attendees, parents and guardians associated with the group are familiar with the covenants, forms, terms and conditions required for registration.
And PLEASE keep the SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE informed of your plans! We need to arrive as group united - UNITED CHURCH of CHRIST!

Support Youth Ministry
Youth videoAttending Southwest Conference youth events keeps the next generation of UCC members inspired and interested in growing in their faith.
Youth and Young Adult ministry of the Southwest Conference has used a reserve fund to help pay for the expenses of this ministry which includes, but are not limited to, a staff member, event expenses and scholarships for kids who would not be able to attend otherwise.

As of now, this reserve fund is completely depleted. Iin order for this ministry to continue the way it has been in the past, it is in desperate need of some donations.
